No More Goodbyes

Interview

BAND*AID: Dave…we know you were the “manager” of Spil. Are you in that role with No More Goodbyes?

Dave: Bass player. I just play bass.

BAND*AID: Deake…would you consider doing a song, with you on lead vocals?

Deake: Yeah

BAND*AID: Stuie…are you happy to be back playing with part of your old band?

Stuie: Oh yeah! I’m just happy to be back playing at all.

BAND*AID: Jason M…is it cool or difficult to play in a band with a family member?

Jason M.: No…it’s easier. We all get along.

BAND*AID: Dave & Deake: You both had pretty long hair in your last band. Any chance you guys will grow your hair back out again?

Dave: No

Deake: No. On stage I liked it, off stage it sucked.

BAND*AID: (everyone) Is it difficult to juggle work, personal and family with your band life?

(everyone): Sometimes, yeah.

Dave: …hard to handle all the groupies (laughing)

BAND*AID: (everyone) We know all your music is original, but if you guys would do a cover song, what song would you guys do?

Deake: Faithfully by Journey

Dave: Vanilla Ice, Atreyu

Stuie: Probably some Vanilla Ice, we could mess around with that.

BAND*AID: (anyone) How often do you guys practice?

(everyone): 2 times a week

BAND*AID: (everyone) How long have you each been playing?

Dave: Been playing skin flute since I was 2 (laughing) Bass, 8 years

Jason: Long time

Deake: 10 years

BAND*AID: Any plans to take the shows to other cities?

Deake: Terre Haute

Dave: Everywhere

BAND*AID: If you guys could go on tour with any national act, who would you choose?

(everyone): Breaking Benjamin or KISS

BAND*AID: My personal favorite song is “Shades of Blue”. Can someone give the rundown of that song? What’s it about? Who wrote it?

Dave: Me and Deake wrote it about my bass player from years ago, and Jason just stepped up and did his solo.

Deake : A lot of drunken nights on Dave’s couch.

BAND*AID: What goes through your mind while you’re on stage?

Deake: Music…don’t really pay attention to much else.

Jason: Hope my amp don’t break (laughing)

BAND*AID: Do you guys get nervous before a show?

(everyone): No!

Jason: I still do.

Dave: Still a rookie.

Deake: The first NMG show, a little…

BAND*AID: Was it because of the long break between Spil and NMG?

Dave & Deake: Yeah

BAND*AID: Where do you guys see NMG, five years from now?

Jason: Do you really wanna know? (laughing) Bathroom floor with a needle sticking in my arm (laughing).

Deake: Groupies, needles…(laughing)

Dave: Paying child support! (laughing) We’re just playing. Seriously…

Jason: Hopefully made it…

Deake: Yeah, we want to go all the way with this one.

BAND*AID: Let’s pretend for a second that you guys just won an AMA for best new band. Who would you guys like to thank?

Jason: Dad

Dave: I’d thank my wife and kids…Madden’s wife (laughing)

Deake: Slash and God.

Stuie: My dad and God.

BAND*AID Online Magazine would like to thank those members of No More Goodbyes for taking time to speak with us.
