BandAid sits down with Joe Brown, one of the Creators of Corfest. This year is the 3rd Annual Corfest Event. We attended last year, had a great time...and definitely attending again this year. This Q&A gives all the inside and out of Corfest!   Looking forward to this year’s event July 11th 2009, hope to see you all there!!

*What is Corfest?
First Corfest is named after Cory Miller who used to have the best get-togethers in Connersville throughout our high school years, he would have his band and others come out to the land, drink beer, jam, and really just have a great time. There's not much to do in "The Ville" anyways.
So with that being said Cory and myself decided when we were hanging out 1 night that we should get a show together and have it at his parents’ house on the land just like he would do back in the day but that I would help with actually promoting it and booking the bands and what not. I had happened to mention having a show at his land to showcase a few bands that I had met recently. I was really getting into promoting and what not with other local bands from the Cincinnati area when I helped do
localbands101.com , which kinda ran its course you could say, we would do shows in Cincinnati and that lead to meeting a bunch of other bands from the area and so the story goes. Cory had got us a page together on myspace and had put together a web page as well, which he had done for me previously for LB101. So, that was kinda the start for "CORFEST". We had the idea of having a 2day concert with 14 or 15 bands, with camping both nights, and everything else that goes with it, gotta think big right ? We ended up just having it be 1 day though for the inaugural event which was 07/07/07 and featured only 5 bands. But we did manage to draw around 250+ people and a few campers. The second event grew to 7 bands and the crowd increased as well up to 375+ and more campers than before. This year we have 11 bands so who knows what will happen. Maybe 1 day we will get back to the original 2day event???

*Where is Corfest?
Corfest is located at the Miller Residence near Bentonville just outside of Connersville, Indiana.

4515 West County Road 800 North
Connersville, IN 47331

*Where can we buy tickets?
This year we are selling tickets exclusively at Heathers Salon in Connersville which is located at 724 W. 23rd Street. You can call ahead for availability and store hours at (765)827-1608. Most of the bands on the show will have tickets available as well that you can pick up from them. And if you go to the Corfest myspace page
myspace.com/corfest and scroll down to the ticket section you can order your tickets online through PayPal also.

*How Much?
Tickets this year are going to be $12 in advance and $15 day of show that way we can get a more accurate gauge on how many people will be attending and it will help us be better prepared for the show and what else we may need to ensure everyone that goes has a great time.

*What is offered at Corfest?
FREE CAMPING, which is actually encouraged, especially if you have been drinking. Fishing is allowed depending on owners’ discretion and lake depth. We also have official event shirts, food, and all the bands will have merchandise as well. For those 21+ it is a B.Y.O.B. event as long as you have a valid ID which is required to get a bracelet. You can bring your own food too if you please. Just as if you were going camping and the bands would be kinda like a bonus :)

*Are there any rules/laws we need to know about?
Just the typical: Treat the place as you would your own, there will be bonfires going so don’t build your own. No fishing unless otherwise stated. No underage drinking, etc.

*Time show starts and ends?
This year Pistolero kicks off the event at 1pm sharp, Kramus is the headliner and plays until 12:30 and after that we have DJ LUMPSUM LARRY playing at the camping area until the sun comes up I guess, or people pass out whichever comes first.

*Food?
Not quite sure what’s on the menu this year, but you can bring your own food too.

*Parking?
Parking is located on the property and surrounding area free of charge
